Fabric: Jamdani began as part of Bengal's legendary muslin weaving tradition. Fine muslins from the region were once compared to woven air. What makes Jamdani special is its technique. The motifs are woven directly into the fabric by hand, instead of being printed or embroidered afterward. Each flower, vine, or geometric motif is inserted individually during weaving using an extra-weft technique on the loom. Traditionally woven around Dhaka and across Bengal, Jamdani became known for combining extreme delicacy with remarkable craftsmanship. Its lightweight cotton base and open weave structure allow airflow more easily than denser fabrics, making it especially suited for humid summers. No two handcrafted Jamdani pieces feel exactly alike. Small irregularities are often a sign of the handloom process itself. Centuries later, Jamdani still feels relevant. Quiet craftsmanship never really goes out of style.
Wash Care
Hand wash gently in cold water. Avoid twisting the fabric and dry flat to maintain the weave.
